The Minister for Community Affairs in Ireland, John Curran, announced plans on Sept. 18th, 2009, for merging 180 small locally-run Community Development Projects with 55 large city/county-focused social inclusion companies. Will it work on the ground for people in disadvantaged communities? The Minister's office has provided 10 questions and answers, all published in this BLOG. It's EASY TO COMMENT. DO GIVE YOUR NAME AND COUNTY. Only click 'anonymous' if you really feel the need to.
The Minister's plan is that a new programme will be forged from the Community Development Programme (CDP) and the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme (LDSIP).

Brisk chop of the axe. Happy Christmas, everyone.
ReplyDeleteWe all know how slow the Depts work this is the End of September a few days after the announcment and the minister is giving a launch date !!!
ReplyDeleteJust how long ago was this dission been made.
This man is putting over 180 CDPs out of action and thousands out of work. He is removing vital training and educational services from the communities (who's going to organise them) He is getting rid of the people who are running social economy schemes and putting nothing in place and he is doing all this in three months. This is crazy!
